On Monday 3 July, we hosted our pre-season referees meeting at Blandford School.
It was an opportunity for Dorset match officials to meet with each other before the beginning of the 2023/24 season, along with understanding the new laws and competition changes for the coming season.
We were pleased to have newly promoted Premier League referee Tim Robinson as our guest speaker for the event. Tim did an excellent presentation regarding positioning as well as answering numerous questions around his raise to Select Group 1 and changes in refereeing.
During the event, we highlighted a number of achievements through the season, which included the 14 referees promoted from Levels 7-6, 6-5 & 5-4, as well as Paul Kirby, who officiated at the FA Deaf Cup Final at St George’s Park and was recently in the King’s Honours List for an MBE for his services.
Furthermore, Justin Amey’s appointment to the FA Sunday Cup Final back in April played at Pride Park and finally as Grassroots Referee of the Year, Holly Richardson, for our excellent start into the world of refereeing and valued contributions in the game over the past season.
