FE/HE Festival 28th Feb 2018

Further and Higher Education Girls Festival beats the cold

Five teams show true grit on and off the pitch

FE & HE Girls Festival a great success.

On Wednesday 28th February, in the freezing cold conditions, 5 FE/HE Girls teams braved the snow and wind to attend the FE/HE Girls Football Festival at The County Ground, Hamworthy.

Teams from Bournemouth & Poole College, Bournemouth University, Corfe Hills School, The Purbeck School and Weymouth College competed in a round robin festival on the 3G pitch.

Games were played in a 7 v 7 format with rolling substitutes keeping everyone moving in the icy temperatures. Games were competitive but played in a friendly environment with all teams picking up at least 1 point from their 4 games.

Congratulations to our winning team, Corfe Hills School, who finished the afternoon on 10 points. The team’s prize is a trip to watch the England Lionesses play Wales in their 2019 World Cup Qualifying match on Friday 6th April at Southampton FC.

Thanks to all that came along and joined in on the day and thanks to the Bournemouth University RELAYS volunteers for coming along to referee and manage the pitches.

There are more festivals planned in March (Bournemouth University), April (County Ground, Hamworthy) and May (Weymouth College), so if you’re school or college are interested in getting involved please get in touch at development@dorsetfa.com
