A new year and a new team in the league as January saw the arrival of Dexter Sports Youth to the DFFL. In what proved to be a very tight month, only 11 points separated the competing clubs. While it was once again Wimborne Town FC Women who topped the monthly table, there are signs that the remainder of the season could see them pushed hard to maintain their streak. Over this period, the only player in their squad to score more than 5 points in three of the four gameweeks was Andrew Robertson, who benefitted from Liverpool’s fantastic run of clean sheets.

Wimborne Town FC Women are a newly established team for the 2019/20 season, competing in the Dorset Women’s League.  They pride themselves on their core values of unity, togetherness and enjoyment, boasting a squad that ranges in age from 17 to 48 and includes players who are brand new to the game as well as some experienced heads who’ve played at a higher level. Wimborne Town FC Women had two matches in January, including their first at The Cuthbury, but with the recent bad weather one of these ended up being abandoned. The match that was completed saw the team achieve a 5-0 win to start 2020 in a positive fashion.

Wimborne Town FC Women train on Thursdays at Queen Elizabeth’s School, from 7-8:30pm and are always keen to welcome new faces. If you would like to get in touch then please contact them at wimbornetownladies@outlook.com.

If you want to join the Dorset Fantasy Football League then there is still plenty of the season left and several opportunities to win monthly prizes. To join please go to https://bit.ly/2JFbyWk and complete the short registration form.  Once completed we will send through a document on how to enter the DFFL and invoice your club for the £5 entry fee.
