The FA Bobby Moore Fund Walking Football Festival returns to Dorset

Dorset FA are pleased to be working with The FA and The Bobby Moore Fund (Cancer Research UK) to host a Walking Football Festival at The Specsavers County Ground on Wednesday 31st July from 6.00pm.

The evening will see teams in Over 50’s, Over 60’s and Women’s Over 30’s play in the small sided format of the game with the aim of raising awareness of the opportunities in Walking Football in Dorset and also promoting the great work of The Bobby Moore Fund in funding research in to bowel cancer.

Bobby Moore was just 51 years old when he died. Shortly after his death in 1993, Bobby’s widow Stephanie Moore MBE set up the Bobby Moore Fund which is a restricted fund of Cancer Research UK to fund pioneering bowel cancer research

Now in its 26th year, the fund has raised over £26 million and continues to go from strength to strength. Since Bobby’s death, mortality rates for bowel cancer have fallen by more than 30%, but sadly it still kills 44 people in the UK every day, so we still have so much more to do.

We hosted a festival in 2017 which was a great success in raising awareness of walking football (we now have an affiliated league) and also raising funds to support the important research being carried out by the charity.

We hope to have as many teams across the three categories come along and join in for a fun festival of walking football and to raise as much as we can for The Bobby Moore Fund.
