FA Futsal Youth Cup Returns for the 2018-19 Season

Entries Now Open for the Qualifying Series

Dorset County FA are pleased to announce the return of the FA Futsal Youth Cup for the 2018-19 season

Having run the county qualifying event for several years and had a number of Dorset teams progress all the way to the national finals, we are now looking to expand the format and push futsal into the spotlight.  To this end, we will be running a three festival series for both male and female teams to determine who will go forward to represent Dorset in the South West regional competition.

Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced, small sided football game that originates from South America in the 1930s. It is widely played across the world, and is the small sided football format that is officially recognised by both UEFA and FIFA. The nature of the game places a large emphasis on technical skill and ability in situations of high pressure, and is subsequently an excellent breeding ground for football competencies that can be translated into the 11-a-side format of the game.  A copy of the FA’s Mini Soccer & Youth Futsal Handbook is included below for you to download, and contains a general summary of the laws of the game.  The specific competition rules will be distributed when they are available and may differ slightly from those laid out in the handbook.

The competition will be run for Under 10, 12, 14 and 16 boys and girls that are part of a County FA affiliated club. Players must be a registered member of the club for which they are competing in this competition for the 2018/19 season and be within the following age bandings:

  • Under 10 – Under 10 and at least 8 years old on 31st August 2018
  • Under 12 – Under 12 and at least 10 years old on 31st August 2018
  • Under 14 – Under 14 and at least 12 years old on 31st August 2018
  • Under 16 – Under 16 and at least 14 years old on 31st August 2018

A player shall not play for more than one competing team in the festival series.

Any player that is registered with an Academy, Centre of Excellence, FA Female Regional Talent Club or has been during the 2018/19 season or representative sides will not be permitted to play.

Teams can choose to enter as many of the festivals in the series as they want, though progression to regionals will be determined by an aggregate points system across all three events.  The entry fee will be £30 for each individual event, with a discounted rate of £75 for entering all three festivals in the series in advance.  Payment will be requested upon the submission of the entry form, which can be accessed via the link below.  Individual entry forms will need to be completed for each team that is entered.  Entries for each event in the series will close on the Thursday preceding the event.  Any queries please contact Grant Smith at Grant.Smith@dorsetfa.com or on 01202 688280.
