Ship Inn Wool Steal A March In Veterans League

After the re-establishment of the Dorset Veterans League at the start of the season, Ship Inn Wool have seen themselves march towards glory with...

The competition, which sees teams play on a Sunday morning every three weeks, was re-established this season for the first time in a number of years. With a flexible approach being the focal point of the League, teams are able to mutually change the fixture dates, register two players aged 30-34 and utilise repetitive substitutions in all games.

In a potential title-decider played on Sunday, Ship Inn Wool came out victors over Bere Regis, 5-1, consequently securing a six point advantage over their rivals. With just three games to go, the trophy is still up for grabs which will guarantee an enthralling end to the season. Click HERE to see the League table.

Clubs across the county are now expressing an interest in the League and it is our intention to see the competition grow to two divisions during the close season. The implementation of a County Cup is also being discussed. With a number of players coming back in to football having dropped out of the game for various reasons, the Veterans League has been the perfect platform to play on a sporadic basis.
