FA Development Centre (Disability)

The FA’s Disability Talent Pathway helps the progress of players locally and also aids the transition into FA Regional Impairment Specific Centres of Excellence where appropriate.

Following the conclusion of this Season's (2012/13) Centre activities; the future of the Disability Centre was discussed at a recent DCFA Development Committee.

The decision of the Committee was that the Centre would cease at the end of this current Season (2012/13). The main reason is that we simply do not have the player base within the County, in order to make the Centre a truly elite environment.

Instead from next Season we will be working with a number of Clubs locally to increase the player base, with the possibility of re-establishing the Development Centre in the future.

If you have a Disability and are looking at getting into a Club please contact us via Andrew Battison 01202 688279 or andrew.battison@dorsetfa.com  or alternatively utilise the ‘find a Club’ icon via our website www.dorsetfa.com/findaclub for contact details of all Clubs.

It is important to remember that not running the Centre will by no means disadvantage players in terms of future prospects (i.e. Regional Impairment specific squads/England), as the FA Scouts and ourselves will continue to monitor players progress, should we hear of playes locally with any of the following impairments:
• Cerebral Palsy
• Partially Sighted
• Learning Disability
• Deaf
• Amputee

We would like to thank all players, parents/guardians for the support of the Centre in previous years.
