Dorset FA officially open new 150-seater stand

The opening took place on Tuesday 19th March, as Hamworthy United faced a Dorset League representative side.

Despite the drizzle, spirits were not dampened at Dorset FA's official opening of the new 150-seater stand on the evening of Tuesday 19th March at the County Ground.

The Deputy Mayor of Poole, Councillor Tony Trent, was invited to cut the ribbon in front of invited guests, spectators and dignitaries who took shelter in the stand as they watched a special game.

Mascots were invited from teams that play and train regularly here at the ground, and we were delighted that they walked out with each team and formed a ‘Respect Line’.

Thank you to the teams who played on the pitch to mark the occasion, with Hamworthy United coming out on top against a Dorset League representative side.

All the staff would like to thank everyone that came, played, and supported a great evening. We look forward to continuing to improve and invest in the facility, with the new pitch laid last summer, new goals and nets, new dugouts, new CCTV system and plans afoot for much more.

The County Ground is the heart of football in Dorset, and we are looking forward to hosting the County Cups and the Dorset Schools Cup Finals, including the Mark Frowde school trophy game in the next few weeks. A warm welcome awaits, and a seat in the stand!

Why not come on down and support football in your community!
