On a rather cold November evening (30th), Dorset County FA headquarters hosted an in-service event looking at working with elite youth players.
Joe Roach, Head of Youth from AFC Bournemouth conducted the evening; which began with Joe leading the group through his game philosophy and key factors of training the Youth team.
Coaches were then tasked with their understanding of the 4-4-2 system of play, and what technical and tactical aspects they would need to develop in training to exploit this system.
This work then moved onto the pitch, where Joe led the Dorset County FA Under 15 Development Centre players, through a series of practices that he would utilise with the Youth team from warm up through skills practices to small sided game.
Feedback from the 42 coaches attending was extremely positive:
‘Many thanks for the session which proved informative and well presented!’
‘Felt I learned a lot and really enjoyed it!’
‘Joe’s experience and knowledge of the game were first class; thanks!’
'Great to have an insight into coaching an elite Youth team!’
‘Left me with many good ideas and food for thought!’
Dorset County FA would like to thank Joe, all of the coaches who attended the workshop and also the players and parents of the County Under 15 Development Centre for their contribution throughout the evening!
