Dorset wildcats: Have fun, make friends, play football.
Wildcats Centres provide girls aged 5-11 years with regular opportunities to play football and take part in organised sessions in a fun and engaging environment created exclusively for girls. The FA's aim for 2020 is to have 1,666 Wildcats Centres across the Country.
The sessions take place on a weekly basis, either after school or at weekends, subject to the local organiser. They provide a safe environment where girls can come together to have fun engaging with sport, develop fundamental skills, try a variety of sessions, learn new things and create foundations for a lifelong love of sport.
Each Wildcats Centre is run in conjunction with local County FA's and utilising qualified coaches and local facilities to offer girls a location nearby where they can get involved.
Wildcats has been running in Dorset since 2017 when we started with 3 centres growing to 11 centres in 2019. The programme continues to offer girls an opportunity to access football and we’re excited for the 2020 delivery of the programme.
Success stories in Dorset include Dorchester Town Girls now running 4 girls teams, Dorchester Sports Youth developing an Under 11 team and Poole Town Youth, one of our first centres, now offering 2 girls teams at the club.
Wildcats is a great way of starting up or developing the girls game at your club with The FA providing funding, training, kit and equipment packs to clubs involved in the programme.
