Girls Football Week Festival Success

To celebrate The FA’s Girls Football Week Dorset FA hosted a girls 16+ education festival at The County Ground on Wednesday 8th November. 50 girls...

On the chilly Wednesday afternoon the girls from across Dorset played a round robin of competitive fixtures with plenty of closely fought games alongside lots of giggles and cheering!

On hand to offer details of local playing opportunities was Dorset FA’s Development Manager Justine Mosley who commented: “This was the first festival for this age group we have run at The County Ground and I think the girls have really enjoyed the opportunity to play on the quality 3G surface we have here in Hamworthy. It was great to see girls from various education settings come together to enjoy their football and see the girls having such a good time playing football. We will now be planning two more festivals for the new year and would love to have more schools/colleges get involved!”

Congratulations to eventual winners, Weymouth College but thank you to all teams who attended the afternoon.

If you’re interested in coming along to our next festival, please get in touch – justine.mosley@dorsetfa.com or 01202 688277.

Girls Football Week is a national campaign to drive The FA’s aim of doubling participation by 2020. Girls from across England will be playing football to celebrate the week! To find out more about girls football check out The FA’s website ‘For Girls’.
