Getting started
Whether you are a parent looking for football opportunities on behalf of your child, or a player yourself looking to make that first move to get involved there are a number of ways you can get started:
Girls Go for Goal – is an initiative run by Dorset FA in partnership with the FA Tesco Skills team aimed at girls in school years 3 & 4, click here for more information.
The FA Skills Coaches are out and about in schools around the county coaching 5-11 year old girls and boys, they also run a holiday course programme, FA Skills Centres and get involved with supporting grassroots clubs and coaches. To find out more about how you can get involved click here.
Women’s Small-Sided Football – a programme is currently running at Dorchester Sports Centre (formally Thomas Hardye Leisure Centre) on a Sunday 4-6pm through the summer on the 3G artificial surface. The sessions are turn up and play (£2 per player) and open to anyone aged 16+ for more information click here.

Playing Regularly
There are a number of women and girls teams around the county providing football for females of all ages. Dorset FA run the county girls league and county women’s league, we also have teams playing in the South West Regional Women’s Football League. Dorset FA also run a number of tournaments and events throughout the season including summer and pre-season tournaments, small-sided competitions, plus a chance to play different versions of the game such as Futsal and Beach Football to find out more click here
Representative Football & Talent Development
There are opportunities in Dorset for players who show potential talent to receive additional training and matches through our FA Licensed Player Development Centre programme and under-18 Women’s Representative Squad.
