FA Girls Advanced Coaching Centre

The Girl's FA South West specific talent pathway was created for the season 2014/15. It has brought a new player-focused approach to elite female youth football, ensuring the pathway is accessible as well as both supportive and educational.

In its second season the FA Girl's England Talent Pathway had successfully achieved its aim of being inclusive and accessible to all talented girls within the South West region.

The pathway ensures the player’s development, health and wellbeing is at the forefront of the programme, and aims to support our elite players as they strive to reach world class level.  Dorset FA run the Advanced Coaching Centre (ACC) as part of the pathway and offer opportunities for players to trial for the South West Regional Excellence Centre (SW REC). In the 2016/17 season 3 Dorset ACC players were chosen to attend the SW REC residential camps throughout the season and 1 player attended the National Performance Camp (NPC).

The pilot will ensure a player’s development, health and wellbeing is at the forefront of the programme, and aims to support our elite players as they strive to reach world class level.

Within the new pathway is the formation and introduction of Advanced Coaching Centres, which replace the previous Player Development Centres, as well as the introduction of the first-ever South West FA Girls’ Centre of Excellence programme that will provide residential education and physiological support from full-time FA staff.

The pilot will allow players to play at more appropriate levels of the game, reduce travel time for training and matches to ensure more time and focus is invested in our elite players.

The Football Association determines the criteria regarding the standards of organisation, facilities and personnel. These strict criteria must be met prior to a Centre being awarded a Licence to operate. The Football Association monitor the Centres by way of visits and consultations, to ensure that the Centres standards are continually met and surpassed.

The centre draws on the skills and experience of a variety of people, the coaching, medical, welfare and administrative staff. It is not only committed to the development of the players, but to the development of its staff, to ensure that players are given the best opportunity, in the right environment to have fun, learn and develop and achieve the best you can be.

It is a considerable achievement to be selected for an FA Advanced Coaching Centre and we look forward to working with parents /guardians and most importantly the players to help them realise their full potential within the game.
