The Centre has run for the past two years, initially running only an Under 15 side (2008), to develop players for our County Representative side at Under 16. In 2009 this side was complemented by commencing an Under 14 age group also.
Owing to the success in developing players to progress onto professional set ups, and also feedback from players, coaches and local Clubs, in enhancing their provision, the decision was taken by the DCFA Development Committee to expand further age groups, to ensure a comprehensive player pathway for male players withint he County. So for Season 2010/11 the following age groups were run - Under 10, Under 12, Under 14 and Under 15. Culminating in 2011/12 being able to offer all year groups between these age bandings.
This gifted and talented pathway continues for 2012/13; however the Under 10 and 11 age groups are looked after via the FA Skills Team via the SkillsExtra programme, whilst Under 12 to Under 15 age groups remain within the FA Development Centre structure.
The trial process throughout this year, was very keenly contested and we would like to express our thanks for everyone that attended; and say congratulations to those awarded a place within the initial Development Centre squads.
All of the age groups will train every week under the tutelage of highly qualified, highly experienced coaches. There will also be matches against other ‘elite’ Academy and Development Centre programmes. This will provide the players selected for the Centre the opportunity to play with and against other talented players, in order to improve both their skills, techniques and game craft.
