Wardle has taken a significant step in her refereeing journey

Dorset referee Jade Wardle has taken a significant step in her refereeing journey after officiating the televised Women’s FA Cup match between Manchester United and Manchester City.

Manchester City went on to win the game comfortably 4-1, with Lauren Hemp, Ellen White, Caroline Weir, and Khadija Shaw scoring for City after Katie Zelem gave United the lead after 13 minutes.

Jade was part of the original Dorset Youth Referee Academy which is the DCFA Youth CORE Group. She progressed through the Dorset Leagues and the Dorset Premier League before being promoted to the Wessex League as a referee, whilst also being an Assistant Referee on the Southern League.

This season Jade was selected as Assistant Referee for the Dorset Senior Cup Final in a feisty match involving Hamworthy United and Poole Town. She has also officiated in the FA Women’s Championship and the FA Women’s Super League.

Dorset FA's Referee Development Officer, Kevin Pike says; "To top a brilliant season Jade has also been selected to officiate in an UEFA U19 Tournament, which included England, Wales, Belgium and Iceland. She is also the appointed referee for the Championship match between Lewes and Liverpool. DCFA is immensely proud of what she has already achieved and more importantly what she will achieve in the future. All female referees in Dorset should just take a look at what Jade has done, and say I want to do the same."
