Dorset FA Launch New Partnership with Technical Surfaces

Dorset FA Launch Partnership with Technical Surfaces

The Dorset County Football Association and Technical Surfaces are delighted and proud to be working together in a long-term partnership to deliver quality maintenance to 3G pitches across Dorset.

Since the opening of the new state of the art 3G ATP at the Specsavers County Ground in September 2016, Technical Surfaces have been undertaking the regular maintenance of the pitch ensuring pitch performance and quality standards are maintained.

The partnership will see Technical Surfaces offer a preferential 'Framework' pricing structure, discounted from their standard prices and based on a 5 year maintenance package to all Dorset FA affiliated sites. Packages will also be available for one-year and three-year terms, to suit the individual requirements of each club.

The exclusive maintenance partnership will allow Technical Surfaces to provide preferential rates for all affiliated sites, to include:

  • Specialist maintenance
  • Remedial works, e.g. top-ups, repairs, deep cleaning, supply of pitch equipment
  • Indicative performance testing
  • Floodlighting
  • Regional training seminars
  • Ongoing technical support

Jonathan Gunn, Technical Director of Technical Surfaces Ltd, said:

"From recreational football to competitive matches, we understand how important it is for players to have confidence in their 3G pitch, both as a quality playing surface and in terms of health & safety. Thankfully, Quality assurance is now fundamental to 3G pitch provision, and the FA 3G Pitch Register is the definitive list of all 3G Pitches in England with FIFA / FA approved classification. A pitch can only secure such classification if it meets certain performance criteria, which in turn is only attainable through a sustained programme of specialist and routine maintenance. We welcome this development within our industry, and we are proud to be leading the way in providing expert maintenance to contracted sites across Dorset, as well as indicative performance testing on contracted FIFA Quality / Quality Pro surfaces and ongoing technical support to all synthetic pitches in the Dorset County area."

Kath Purnell, County Facilities Officer for Dorset County Football Association, said:

"Technical Surfaces have been providing a quality maintenance service and technical support to the Dorset County FA's 3G pitch to ensure that it continually meets the high performance criteria. The Dorset County FA is committed to developing and administering football for all; and by forging this partnership, clubs and organisations across current and future 3G sites in Dorset will be able to benefit from a structured programme of specialist maintenance and services at discounted prices ensuring that the game can develop in a safe playing environment."

COMPANY Profile

Technical Surfaces is the UK’s largest and leading provider of maintenance and repairs to all types of synthetic sports surface, operating nationwide for over 25 years. Our client base exceeds 5000 facilities at sports clubs, leisure centres, schools, colleges and universities, and we provide a comprehensive maintenance service to sports centres, schools, colleges and universities, as well as local authorities, facility management companies, sports governing bodies and industry associates.
Our philosophy is Maintaining Standards and we apply this not only to the work we do, helping to ensure that surfaces can be enjoyed at their best and safest, but also to the way we do business – we never forget that excellent customer service is of paramount importance to the continued success of our company.
Technical Surfaces is unique within our industry in that we are wholly independent, and more importantly have no interest in resurfacing – our interests are served entirely by achieving the maximum life and preserving the playing characteristics of an existing synthetic surface. This has enabled us to concentrate solely on maintenance, thereby helping our customers to delay the inevitable high cost of re-surfacing.
We remain at the forefront of our industry, committed to researching and applying the latest maintenance techniques to benefit all users of synthetic sports surfaces.
Technical Surfaces provides a complete culture of preventative and corrective maintenance for synthetic surfaces, including:

• OTIS online facility to record and monitor pitch maintenance and usage
• MatchFit® maintenance contracts
• indicative pitch performance testing
• granular top-up / removal
• deep-cleaning (Revite® & Rejeneration®)
• repairs
• line marking
• supply & training of maintenance machinery (SMG & R.E.D Ranges)
• supply & install pitch equipment (AstroTech®)
• specialist maintenance of water-based pitches & athletics tracks (Hydrotech®)

Operations are based at our National Office in Leicestershire, where our vehicle fleet of 28 vans, lorries and cars covering more than 500,000 miles a year nationwide is tracked and managed centrally by our Scheduling team, to allow maximum coverage and provide emergency responses at a moment’s notice. Our Technical team, backed up by experienced Administrators, produces reports, advice and quotations to ensure that our customers are always informed of the choices available to them when selecting their maintenance options.
Our 30-strong collection of dedicated maintenance machinery comprises items from the SMG range, including the SportChamp and CareMax. Technical Surfaces is proud to be the sole UK Distributor of SMG artificial pitch maintenance machinery, and we work closely with their research team to develop new and improved machinery and equipment.
In 2011, Technical Surfaces became the UK’s first maintenance provider to launch an online reporting system - our Online Technical Information System (OTIS). This was a pioneering development in our industry and reflective of the trend towards technical reporting and analysis of maintenance in line with quality control and warranty requirements.
We are also working in partnership with the Sports Surface Research Group at Loughborough University to deliver a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), to further enhance industry understanding and awareness of the effectiveness of current sports pitch maintenance techniques. Our relationship with Loughborough University spans more than a decade, with our commissioned research into Sports Surfaces Wear (2009) and our collaboration on Understanding the effects of decompaction maintenance on the infill state and play performance of third-generation artificial grass pitches (2014) setting the benchmark for industry guidance and best practice.
By means of our ongoing training, support and monitoring of pitches - including the portfolio of tests undertaken as part of our indicative testing service - Technical Surfaces is well positioned to identify the needs of any synthetic surface.
Above all, Technical Surfaces is proud to have made a significant contribution to the advancement of synthetic turf maintenance that is unrivalled by any other maintenance provider within our industry, and we look forward to continuing #MaintainingStandards
