Dorset FA to Launch New Dorset Fantasy Football League

Dorset FA is pleased to announce that we are launching a brand new Fantasy Football League for the 2019-20 season!

For the first time this will give all Dorset FA affiliated teams the opportunity to compete against each other, whether they are an adult male side, a girls’ football team or part of the Dorset Ability Counts League.  It will also help to raise money for the Bobby Moore Fund (Cancer Research UK), a restricted fund raising money for cutting edge bowel cancer research.

The league will be run using the Fantasy Premier League platform, which has become one of the most used fantasy football sites boasting over 6 million players.  The game casts you into the role of a football manager and gives you a £100M budget to assemble a squad of 15 Premier League players.  Each of these players will then earn points for your team based on their real-life performance that week, contributing to your overall points in the league.  A more complete guide to the Fantasy Premier League can be found below;

As with any other league, teams will be vying to lift the trophy at the end of the season and be crowned the inaugural winners of the Dorset Fantasy Football League.  As well as this – and the bragging rights - there will be some additional prizes up for grabs throughout the season.  The highest scoring team each month will get a short article about them on our website, a coaching session from our Football Development Activator and entry into a prize draw for a £100 kit voucher at the end of the season.

To keep everyone up to date, Dorset FA will be posting a brief league review after each gameweek, including information like the most selected player, the player most transferred in to teams, the most captained player, and a look ahead to the next round of fixtures.

Entry into the league will be solely for affiliated teams, with everyone who would like to take part asked for a one-off payment of £5 to enter a team.  While multiple teams can be entered from the same club, each team at the club can only be represented once, with their fantasy team named accordingly, i.e. Dorset U16.  The Fantasy Premier League terms and conditions can be found below:

Once the cost of prizes has been covered, all subsequent proceeds will be donated to the Bobby Moore Fund.  Bobby Moore was just 51 years old when he died. Shortly after his death in 1993, Bobby’s widow Stephanie Moore MBE set up the Bobby Moore Fund which is a restricted fund of Cancer Research UK to fund pioneering bowel cancer research.  Now in its 26th year, the fund has raised over £26 million and continues to go from strength to strength. Since Bobby’s death, mortality rates for bowel cancer have fallen by more than 30%, but sadly it still kills 44 people in the UK every day, so we still have so much more to do.

To enter the league please complete the short registration form.  Once completed we will send through a document on how to enter the DFFL and invoice your club for the entry fee.
