Dorset FA Mini-Soccer Festival a Sunny Weekend of Football
Saturday 1st July was hosted at The Blandford School with the Under 7, 8, 9 & 10 mixed teams playing it out on the grass pitches. Bournemouth University were in attendance with their inflatable 3 v 3 pitch and speed cage giving out prizes which proved very popular, so thanks to the student volunteers for coming along. A round robin format saw teams playing a number of pool matches with some fantastic football played in all age groups. DE Photo were also along for the day taking photographs as mementos from the festival. The final results were as follows:
Under 7 – Wimborne & Holt 5 v Broadstone 0
Under 8 – Poole Town Wessex 2 v Pen Mill Dragons 0
Under 9 – Bridport 2 v Christchurch 1
Under 10 – Bradford Abbas Panthers 2 v Bournemouth Poppies 1
Sunday 2nd July was the turn of the girls Under 8 & 10 teams at The County Ground, Hamworthy. 15 teams competed in the two age groups on the 3G pitch in the hot sunshine. For some girls this was their first experience of playing in games, including four teams competing from the Wildcats programme which was great to see. After competitive pool games the finals were played out with the results as follows:
Under 8 – AFC Portchester 3 v Redlands Bandits 1
Under 10 – Corfe Mullen United Juniors 4 v Blandford Wildcats 1
