Amongst other aspects of our work, some of the key disability football opportunities include:
Dorset and Wiltshire Ability Counts League
This pan-disability league runs on a central venue basis and currently supports adult male teams to engage in competition on a regular basis. There are 2 divisions to help ensure appropriate ability banding and as the league continues to grow there are hopes to develop a female and junior division. The league website can be found here.
Player Development Centre
An under-16 squad of talented disabled players offered high quality coaching to help support their development, more information can be found on the Development Centre page.
Special Schools Football
Working in conjunction with the Dorset Special Schools Sports Forum, Dorset FA continue to run a number of events during the year for boys and girls at varying age groups.
FA Coaching Disabled Footballers course
To help support coaches to ensure that their sessions are inclusive for all, whether working with a disabled or mainstream team, each year Dorset FA hosts an FA Coaching Disabled Footballers course. This is a fantastic insight for coaches with a (minimum) Level 1 coaching badge to develop their skills further, details of courses can be found here.
