Who is the course for?
This course is open to anyone wishing to develop their coaching skills through a recognised FA coaching qualification. Whilst applicable to all age groups, the FA Level 1 course is especially relevant to coaches, managers or volunteers involved in organising club or school teams with players aged between 5-16 years. Youth leaders or students in further education interested in coaching football will also find this an ideal course as a stepping stone to other vocationally related areas of football including administration, officiating and sports therapy.
What can I expect from the course?
30 hours in duration, managed by an experienced and fully qualified FA Tutor, the course format typically includes 4 evenings and two full days usually on subsequent weekends. The FA Level 1 course will include theoretical (classroom) and practical (coaching delivery) elements. In addition, you will also complete an FA Safeguarding Children and an Emergency First Aid workshop as part of the course, both of which are individually recognised and will provide you with a valid Safeguarding Children and Emergency First Aid certificate for 3 years.
The structure of the course are normally as follows:
Induction (3 Hours) - Here you will be given your Coaching Pack and outlined what will be expected from you for the rest of the course.
Emergency Aid (3 Hours) Theory (3 Hours)
Internal Assessment (8 Hours) - At the Internal assessment you will be given the opportunity to demonstrate an assigned coaching session. The course tutor will be on hand throughout to give feedback individually and as a group to identify strengths and areas that require improvement. Please note Kit will be required for this session as you will be required to help demonstrate drills that others will be delivering.
Safeguarding Children (3 Hours)
Assessment (8 Hours) - Here you are required to deliver a required coaching practice, showing progression through the practice.
Please note; your final assessment will only take place if you attended the course in full, have your Coaching Pack completely up to date and have all other final assessment pre-requisites including; attendance at the FA Safeguarding Children and FA Emergency First Aid workshops (or proof of valid certificate if completed on a different course).
