For the first time, Dorset FA in partnership with Weymouth & Portland Borough Council are launching a Beach Football Festival for Youth players from Clubs, Schools and other Youth organisations.
The event being held throughout the day on Wednesday 22 July 2009 will take place on Weymouth beach and is aimed at players from Under 12 to Under 16.
Teams will compete in a tournament against their respective age groups on the glorious sands of Weymouth beach, and will also have the advantage of playing within an arena environment.
There will be an entry fee of £5 for Dorset affiliated Charter Standard teams; and a fee of £10 applies to all other organisations wishing to participate.
The Festival will commence at 10am (Under 12), 12pm (Under 14) and 2pm (Under 16) and the finish time will depend on the number of entries.
A trophy will be presented to the winning team in each age group, and mementoes will be given to each player who participates

• Teams will consist of 4 players, including the GK
• Players must be male and fall into the appropriate age categories (i.e. for under 12 – be over 10, but under 12 on 1st September 2008)
• Squads can consist of a maximum of 8 players
• Duration of match (TBC) – determined by no. of entries
• Ball out of play – restarted by kick in
• Shoes are not allowed, although ankle guards are permitted
• Teams will compete in a league format; followed by knockout competition – dependent on no. of entries.
