Dorset FA - developing football for everyone
Get Into Football

DCFA Leadership Camp 2010

Forty young people attended the Dorset County FA Leadership Camp on Thursday 18 February 2010! Hosted in the idyllic setting of Canford School, the day afforded Dorset FA the opportunity to bring young people together to develop leadership skills, make new friends, and learn more about what football opportunities are available within the County and beyond.

After an opening presentation, the young people were divided into groups and rotated around different activities throughout the day. These activities included: Fantasy Team Management, ‘Get into Coaching,’ Goalkeeping, ‘Get into Refereeing,’ and Futsal.

During the afternoon each group also had a workshop led by Rosie Eggleston (who like those attending) was at the Dorset County Leadership Camp three years ago; and was since nominated for the National Camp, and visited Botswana as part of the FA's international volunteering programme.

Many who attended said that they had learnt new skills and were now keen to get involved with volunteering in their local Clubs as well as attending further training. Dorset County FA staff will now select a number of young people from the day to attend the FA Regional and National Camps.

Thank you to all those Clubs and Schools who encouraged the young leaders to attend the Camp this year - please continue to support and encourage them to get involved! Dorset County FA will continue to keep in touch with these young leaders and together we can ensure the next generation of the football workforce is in place!
