Tuesday 3 July 2007, saw two high profile National staff deliver an in-service event for coaches from throughout the County.
Widely regarded as the Countries finest exponents of ‘Player Development,’ Craig Simmons (FA Player Development Adviser) and John Allpress (FA National Coach) arrived in Dorset to deliver a workshop focussing on how coaches can cater for every players needs.
The workshop held at Dorset County FA attracted 67 coaches (an excellent turnout) from Charter Standard Clubs and Dorset FA’s Coaching Association.
The workshop commenced with Craig giving an overview of the Long Term Player Development (LTPD) framework and the development of age-specific coaching Courses.
Coaches were then outlined a task to focus on throughout the practical session, linked to the 4-corner model.
The session moved onto the pitch, where John led the players through a series of different activities. The coaches were aided throughout by the use of a head-microphone allowing them to hear all of John’s instructions.
The evening concluded with the coaches reflecting on the session and discussing current football issues.
A big thank you goes to Branksome United (FA Charter Standard Community Club) Under 13’s for their excellent participation on the night.
