Saturday 20th June 2009 saw Dorset welcome one of the most highly regarded Coach Educators to the County.
Dick Bate - Head of Elite Coaching carried out a fantastic in-service event at the excellent facilities of Milborne Sports FC.
Dick commenced the day by looking at how the game is changing, and how we (as coaches) may need to adapt our methods accordingly.
The coaches then went out onto the pitch, where Dick led the coaches through the use of possession and attacking play.
After some well deserved lunch, the focus of the day turned to defending effectively. The use of a radio-microphone enhanced the workshop, allowing the 42 coaches to hear Dick’s comments throughout the on-field practices.
Coaches’ thoughts on the day included:
‘Having someone of Dick Bates calibre was a major influence in the success of the day; many thanks to Dorset FA for an educational day’
‘I know we have all benefited from Dick’s knowledge and expertise’
‘Organised, delivered and supported well’
‘Highly relevant and excellent manner and presentation’
Huge thanks go to Dick for giving up his valuable time, which gave all those attending, some thought provoking insights into the game at a more elite level!
