Focus on Success!

The millionaires playground of Sandbanks beach provided the perfect backdrop for a football tournament on Sunday 12 July 2009.

The event organised by Football Focus; a project aimed at breaking down barriers between the police and young people; was supported by Borough of Poole and Dorset FA.

Over 350 teenagers aged 13 – 19 years from 25 different teams took part in the tournament. Top of the table awards went to Limelights (Girls), West Howe A (Juniors), and Oakdale (Inters and Seniors). In addition there was ‘fair play’ awards given to Creekmoor (Girls), Baiter Allstars (Junior), Turlin Moor (Inters) and Blazed (Seniors).

The young peoples enthusiasm was matched by the weather on the day; with the Mayor of Poole, Cllr Charles Meachin saying:
‘We would like to thank everyone who supported the event and helped to make it such a resounding success. It was a great day and the young people obviously enjoyed every minute of it.’
