Girls' Launch at Sandford

Sunday 2 September saw DCFA host its annual Girls’ League Launch Day at Sandford Middle School. The Festival catered for teams competing in the Under 11 and Under 12 Dorset Girls League Divisions.

The day provided teams the opportunity to assess how they are shaping up before the Season kicks off next week. Teams entered from the following Clubs:- Boscombe Albion, Broadstone Youth FC, Dorchester Town Youth, Moordown Athletic, North Dorset Dynamos, Poole Town FC Wessex, Poole Town Youth, Queen Bees and Weymouth FC Youth.

The Counties four newly recruited FA Skills Coaches were also in attendance. This new group of coaches are responsible for raising the skill level of the 5-11 age group and guided a group of players from the North Dorset Dynamos and Weymouth FC Youth through a player-led Skills Session. Following this Mark, Clare, Danny and Martin led players and teams through numerous FA Skills Challenges throughout the day.

The event was a golden opportunity to promote the FIFA Women’s World Cup which commences on 10 September 2007 in China. To support the England Women’s Team, Young Leaders Kim Cheffey and Jessica Letherby who recently returned from the FA National Young Leadership Camp in Ascot were promoting the World Cup with a flag signing initiative; all players on the day had their chance to offer their support to the Team, preceding the flags departure for China!

Dorset FA would like to express their thanks to all who were involved in the day and contributed to the success of the event!
