E-On FA Cup Day 2008

On Thursday 24 April 2008 schools from the Dorset Schools Sports Partnership gathered at Canford Park Arena to compete in the E-On FA Cup Festival 2008.

The aim of the festival was to reward and thank our Charter Standard Schools, for continuing to provide standards of excellence for children’s football throughout Dorset, whilst at the same time increasing the profile of the FA Cup; with the Final scheduled for May 17th at the magnificent Wembley Stadium.
A total of 13 schools first competed in two separate sections, resulting in the following league tables.

Following the Group Stage all teams went on to compete in knockout stages of two separate competitions; the top three from each Section went on to face each other in the FA Cup Competition, where Mudeford Juniors were the winners beating Lytchett Matravers one goal to nil in the final.

Teams finishing fourth place and below went through to the FA Trophy Competition, in which Damers First School were triumphant after narrowly beating St Aldheims Combined School in the final.

All players participating in the Festival received a Certificate and Medal, with the winning two teams (Mudeford Juniors and Damers First School) receiving a trophy and also full playing kit, courtesy of our sponsors E-On.
